The old synths have a character of their own, each one to me is a kind of philosophical construction, a crafted object that perfectly encapsulates the relationship between capability and design.
They were designed to be as useful as possible but at a certain cost, they were aimed at a potential ‘customer’ so its interesting to see and hear how their features and idiosyncrasies reflect this relationship.
Modern do-it-all software emulations are great but they lack this historical attribute, I like these vintage machines for this reason and thus building up layred sounds around their limitations as well as their capabilities brings out their character.
